Voters do the strangest things. About ten years ago, in an all out met ward, I saw someone only use two of their votes to vote for the Green candidate... and the BNP. Anti-establishment was the best reasoned argument I could come up with. Pin the tail on the candidates seemed more likely. We had one ward where there was a massive animosity between two of the three sitting Labour councillors and one of our three aspiring candidates. Massive. Very amused at the count to find someone had voted for the three of them!

When I was eliminated in the 2009 Coatbridge North by-election, my votes got transferred in all sorts of ways. Mostly to one of the independents, but with pretty equal bundles going to Labour, SNP and Tory. Voters do all sorts of odd things.
