Bring back the Most Serene Republic as well, and the Dalmatian language! My understanding was that Dalmatian died before the Republic of Ragusa did. It did indeed. It's a real shame because it would have given Romanian a cousin. Edit- the last known speaker apparently died tripping on a landmine in 1898, but it was broadly dead. |

But the Ottomans are not longer there to prop it up. Charming place, spent a lovely week there, they really don't like Serbs much. Bring back the Most Serene Republic as well, and the Dalmatian language! I believe the Serine Republic may be having a referendum on that very subject in the not too distant future. |
