She was the chair of Oxford UKIP, but they expelled her after she claimed than homosexuals prefer sex with animals. It's not a very logical claim that one is it... ...and in the understatement of the month competition, we have a winner!

On another thread, some-one suggested Plaid Cymru should contest seats outside Wales, but tonight they didn't even have a candidate in Abergele.

Which constituency is the Oxford ward in?

There are percentages for Abergele Pensarn on Atlas: Indeed. I should have used Persarn rather than Abergele for searching. In votes: Lab 160, Smith 134, UKIP 129, Sudlow 74, Griffiths 56, Con 54, Parker 10, according to a picture taken by Cllr Sam Rowlands on Twitter.

I assume the Welsh result is distorted by the lure of Independents and thus differential flows on those not standing from last time and the new ones this time? Yet the three stand out features are 1) No PC candidate, 2) Quite decent UKIP poll, and 3) Heavy fall in Labour vote. That taken with the contra-Labour swing at Oxford must cause some disquiet in that camp.

Al will probably elaborate, but Abergele Pensarn is a ward not only full of retirees but full of English retirees, and pretty downmarket to boot. That's a very good UKIP demographic.

Labour's share in Oxford was little changed, the "swing" was due to previous Tory voters going LibDem. I'm not losing too much sleep over that, tbh.

I like that Carlton ignores the Crook result entirely.

On another thread, some-one suggested Plaid Cymru should contest seats outside Wales, but tonight they didn't even have a candidate in Abergele. I suspect that Pensarn may not be natural Plaid territory. More Lancashire Regionalist possibly? [I note the estimable andrewteale has made the point already ... ... more eloquently ... ]
