The returning officer of the London borough of Merton So when you claim that "we've actually got the ward breakdowns for the Euros", who is "we"?, what is "actually"?, and what is "got"? What David said: the RO counted at ward level, and gave the parties that information (does "got" need to be defined?)

I wouldn't call providing election information to a select group of people, rather than the public at large as "best practice".

Fair enough - it's a start though. At least they counted by ward. Wish they'd done that in St Albans (and everywhere else)

I thought we had another thread somewhere here regarding best and worst councils in terms of publishing election information. Anyway here is as good. Compare and contrast St Albans and Watford. I received an email from St Albans council at 4:50pm yesterday with the SOPN attached and informing me it would be available on the website shortly. I opened this email just after 5pm and followed the link which took me straight to the SOPN for all wards www.stalbans.gov.uk/Images/District%20SOPN_tcm15-53841.pdf (the link is on this page www.stalbans.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/elections/election-local/default.aspx ) Watford had not published the SOPN's when I left my desk at about 10 this morning but have since done so. The link to the Statement (sic) of persons nominated is here www.watford.gov.uk/info/20268/elections/550/2016_elections . It is actually a link to a page with twelve separate links to SOPN's for each ward . CLicking on one of those links will not give you the SOPN - it will take you to a page that says "Statement of persons nominated - Callowland 2016" and aanother apparent link to a pdf. You might think that clicking on this link would open a pdf but it takes you to yet another page inviting you to download the pdf (just in case you weren't really sure you wanted to see it the previous too times). It will then download so you have to click again to open the thing. Four mouse clicks for each ward - about 50 mouse clicks in total to obtain the same information that ST Albans provides with a single mouse click. Wankers
