Gedling DC results attached for the period from 1973 to 2003. I have not managed to add 2007 and 2011 to these results. There is also a result for Lambley for 1983 missing, and I am wondering if the poll was delayed for some reason? Once again if anyone has information regarding the pre 1973 councils, namely Arnold UD, Basford RD and Carlton UD, then I would appreciate hearing about it. It may be my records are wrong but I think what has happened is that the results for Lambley in 1983 and 1987 have become merged into the one for the latter date. I have the 1983 result as
Lambley (937)
Read P (Con) 377
Meadows M (SDP/Lib) 82
Naisbitt S (Lab) 77
Turnout 57.3%
and I'm fairly sure that it has always been a single member ward.

You wouldn't happen to have North Warwickshire District in your arsenal would you (as I cannot shake the suspicion that I was at the 1995 count when the Lib Dems came within a whisker of winning Atherstone North but have never been able to find the result)

Labour 870 Forwood D. Labour 862 Dugmore N. Conservative 393 It might have been 1999 when the result was:- Powell W. LD 424 Forwood A. Labour 422 Bassan J. LD 409 Forwood D. Labour 404 Peat C. Only when you go back before their coverage do results start getting difficult to find. |
