Not quite complete yet, but I've been working on getting the 1974 Scottish local results up on my website and all the regions and most of the districts are up here: www.scottishelections.org.uk/scotland/lold/index.phpI also have the handbook for 1977, so these will go up at some point soon. |

One of the oddities (for someone based in London with access to most good reference libraries) is that some of the Dundee University handbooks to Scottish local election results are easily found, while others can't be seen south of the border. I have a copy of the 1974 book, and can get to 1977, 1978, 1980, 1984 and 1986.
But 1982 is very difficult to find, and 1988, 1990, 1992 and 1994 are almost always not to be found except in Scotland.

I don't have any map information on the wards, there's none included the handbooks I have and I don't know where, if anywhere, it would be available online.

The LGBCS--in possibly the best thing it has ever done--has a browser on its website which allows users to see the district wards, regional divisions, and unitary wards: www.scottishboundaries.gov.uk/mapbrowser.asp. It is glorious. |

However, it doesnt seem to have the ward boundaries for the districts in 1974, only for those after the 1st review for 1980.

Perhaps an approach by the Psephological Society to Dundee University to reprint a limited number of their handbooks is possible? I'm sure we could provide pre-order numbers and make it worth their while? I own the 1974, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1986 and 1988 volumes. Sadly the 1974 volume is a tightly bound book and any attempt to copy or scan pages would result in a broken spine. However, the other five are spiral-ring bound: conceivably they could be dismantled, copied and re-assembled. Such an operation by anoraks for anoraks would probably be a breach of copyright....... so I'm not offering to do this at the moment! |

You're a star. Are you able to provide a key? Not on your life  The LGBC Scotland site has playabout maps that will help you. I've filled this map in for 1982, 1986 and 1990 somewhere on this site. Kristofer, I have a drop down spreadsheet for all results from 1974-1999 for what it's worth. It's missing candidate names however and the wards for the Regions are numbered which means you have to do a bit of cross referencing. |

I've slowly transcribed the Angus District results from 1974 onwards onto Wikipedia so its probably a good idea to do that with these as well joe.

Yes I have the Central results and more at my website I will get around to sorting out the ones I have posted in due course. I think the turnouts were so high as these were the first elections to the new councils. Eventually I will find time to edit the Falkirk and Stirling results to look like the clacks results ojn here.

The LGBC Scotland site has playabout maps that will help you. I've filled this map in for 1982, 1986 and 1990 somewhere on this site.
