Am I right in remembering that Crete was pretty much PASOK's Fuehrerbunker? To see them lose even Crete would have shocked me 10 years ago.

The point is that in the middle of all the ultra leftist rhetoric there is a description of the Left Party operating as a pro-federalist party in the EP. I don't think they are making this up and importantly it fits in with Tsipras' recent backing of Juncker as Commission President (on the basis that he was the democratic choice). I think its significant to point this out as a reminder that amid all the hype about Eurosceptic parties topping the polls in three countries (UK, France and Denmark) not only did the pro-Federalist parties, in particular the EPP, PES, ALDE, Green and Left parties, top the poll in every other country but that between them they got an overall (and usually overwhelming) majority in every country except the UK.
