Voting today. All eyes on whether the CHP can take the likes of Istanbul whether Erdogans vote suffers in the Anatolian heartland and if his minions can nudge over the 39% which they scored last time at a local level.

Here's hoping so. Erdogan has really shown himself to be the authoritarian that everyone predicted he would become. Still, he makes the trains run on time...

Looks like Erdogan has increased his voteshare a little, but has lost some important places. Istanbul is a total squeaker. |

Following on from our pieds-noirs discussion elsewhere- interesting that the CHP areas there mainly correspond to formerly Greek areas. Ataturk folk memory?

AKP doing a lot better than expected, although they are helped by split opposition in some places (Balikesir). However with around 45% of the vote now counted it is still to close to call in Istanbul.

Remarkable, how stable the support for Erdogan has been: Nationwide at 52%, although Istanbul&Ankara are narrowly against him these days.
