Labour appear to have held Gedling. Wasn't it Lib Dem defending?

Looks roughly 70-80 votes; Lib Dems look to be 420-something and Labour 480-something I think.

Tories in Kilmarnock North got 493 votes, which was apparently 16.3% of the total. The SNP were "approximately" 200 votes ahead of Labour apparently...
Why can't the council just tweet the result? Rather than posting pictures of the winner...

Labour appear to have held Gedling. Rather amusing name for a UKIP candidate: Claude-Francois.

Labour appear to have held Gedling. Rather amusing name for a UKIP candidate: Claude-Francois. Particularly so for the Tory bigots for whom ones name, parents, school, university etc are the crucial characteristics to be judged when we are accordingly put in our place. And it is apparently wondered why so many tens of millions of good honest British people despise the Conservative Party.

Thats a good result for UKIP and the Tories I would call it as a superb result for UKIP and a respectable result for the Tories against a severely weakened Labour. I don't know what effort the local UKIP party are able to put up in May but what should now be clear is that beyond 2 obvious wards any otherwise Conservative or Liberal Democrat supporters should vote for a UKIP candidate if they seek anything other than a Labour Councillor representing them for the next 4 years.

DARTFORD Stone Catherine STAFFORD (Labour Party Candidate) 426 (37.7%, -5.1) Stephanie THREDGLE (Local Conservatives) 397 (35.1%, -8.5) Jim MOORE (UKIP) 307 (27.2%) This is a really promising result for UKIP. So long Dartford has had the potential for a strong UKIP vote, and it's never been properly worked. Finally, we're getting our act together there and this shows we can get some good results there when we organise and fight byelections properly!

Good Percentages for UKIP, BUT no gains. Perhaps the success of Farage against Clegg in the debate hasn't come through to the voters yet?

Which is probably what Joe was referring to.

That's exactly the kind of selective, politically correct overreaction that we have come to accept in this day and age - and totally uncalled for. There was nothing bigotted about what Joe said at all.
