Unless I've gone blind, there is no Dutch thread, so I'll ask my question here. In the Euros, the CDA won 5 MEPs to the 4 of D66, but I thought the Dutch used a national list? How is this possible? You are correct the Netherlands does have a national list - each party standing in the European election has a party list. The seats (26) are allocated in accordance to the D'Hondt method. As CDA got 18378 LESS than D66 I am at a total loss as to why [CDA] would have more seats than D66.

I did some 'Googling' and the reason why CDA has an extra seat is because of their link with the orthodox religious parties and 50Plus.
