Denmark, results 2009: Denmark lost a seat in 2009 and remains at 13 this year: A (Social Democrats) | 21.5% | -11.1% | 4 seats | -1 | PES | V (Liberals) | 20.2% | +0.8% | 3 seats | nc | ALDE | F (Socialist People's Party) | 15.9% | +7.8% | 2 seats | +1 | EGP | O (Danish People's Party) | 15.3% | +8.5 % | 2 seats | +1 | EFD | C (Conservative People's Party) | 12.7% | +1.3% | 1 seat | nc | EPP | N (People's Movement against the EU) | 7.2% | +2.2% | 1 seat | nc | GUE-NGL | B (Danish Social Liberal Party) | 4.3% | -2.2% | 0 seats | -1 | ALDE | J (June Movement) | 2.4% | -6.8% | 0 Seats | -1 | |
The main gainers look like being DAnish People's Party who are running both Venstre and the Social Democrats close in a 3-way battle to top the polls. The Conservatives look like missing out with the Social Liberals coming back in. 2014 Results: O (Danish People's Party) | 26.6% | +11.3% | 4 seats | +2 | EFD | A (Social Democrats) | 19.1% | -2.4% | 3 seats | -1 | S&D | V (Liberals) | 16.7% | -3.5% | 2 seats | -1 | ALDE | F (Socialist People's Party) | 11.0% | -4.9% | 1 seat | -1 | EGP | C (Conservative People's Party) | 9.1% | -3.6% | 1 seat | nc | EPP | N (People's Movement against the EU) | 8.1% | +0.9% | 1 seat | nc | EUL-NGL | B (Danish Social Liberal Party) | 6.5% | +2.2% | 1 seat | +1 | ALDE |
A very strong result for the Danish People's Party and the Conservatives held on quite comfortably.

A partial explanation is that Venstre have been hit by a rather serious expenses scandal involving their leader. It is also starting to hurt them in polls for the real election as well; they are now running third and the Left has an overall lead.

Finland, 2009 Results: Like Denmark, Finland lost a seat in 2009 and remains at 13 this year. KOK (National Coalition) | 23.2% | -0.5% | 3 seats | -1 | EPP | KESK (Centre Party) | 19.0% | -4.3% | 3 seats | -1 | ALDE | SDP (Social Democratic Party) | 17.5% | -3.6% | 2 seats | -1 | PES | VIHR (Green League) | 12.4% | +2.0% | 2 seats | +1 | EGP | PS (True Finns) | 9.8% | +9.3% | 1 seat | +1 | EFD | SFP (Swedish People's Party) | 6.1% | +0.4% | 1 seats | nc | ALDE | KD (Christian Democrats) | 4.2% | -0.1% | 1 seat | +1 | EPP |
V (Left Alliance) | 5.9% | -3.2% | 0 Seats | -1 | GUE-NGL |
As mentioned up thread, looks like True Finns picking up at least 1 seat and the Left Alliance re-gaining their seat. Swedish People's Party and Christian Democrats could both miss out entirely with Greens looking like losing 1, with KOK or PS picking up the final seat. 2014 Results, Finland: KOK (National Coalition) | 22.6% | -0.6% | 3 seats | nc | EPP | KESK (Centre Party) | 19.7% | +0.6% | 3 seats | nc | ALDE | PS (True Finns) | 12.9% | +3.1% | 2 seats | +1 | EFD | SDP (Social Democratic Party) | 12.3% | -5.2% | 2 seats | nc | S&D | VIHR (Green League) | 9.3% | -3.1% | 1seat | -1 | EGP | V (Left Alliance) | 9.3% | +3.4% | 1 seat | +1 | EUL-NGL | SFP (Swedish People's Party) | 6.8% | +0.7% | 1 seat | nc | ALDE | KD (Christian Democrats) | 5.2% | +1.1% | 0 seats | -1 | EPP |
So, the Christian Democrats miss out despite increasing their vote, but the Swedish People's Party stay in. The Left are back in and the Greens drop one. The True Finns advance, although maybe not as much as they had threatened to.

Both the TRue Finns and Danish People's Party from EFD to ECR. Farage is being screwed. ECR now level on numbers with EGP.

I was looking at a source that added the numbers wrong. Currently 55 ECR to 52 EGP.

If they get the Dutch SGP, the AfD and the N-VA they'll have 67 and they'll overtake the ALDE to be the third largest group.

The ECR are going to vote next week to let the SGP join, I believe that they have now dropped their opposition to women' suffrage which is what prevented them from being allowed to join the ECR in 2009. It looks like they'll be let in without difficulty.

Incidentally the leader of the Congress of the New Right Party in Poland, a new Polish party in the Parliament is also opposed to women's suffrage, although for different reasons sz-n.com/2014/04/leader-of-polands-euro-sceptic-party-believes-women-should-not-have-right-to-vote/

If you think that's weird, it didn't even allow female members until 2006, and at one point its website did not operate on Sundays. Not sure if the latter is still the case, I will try tomorrow!

I can confirm for the amusement, bafflement, and slight respect of all of you: the SGP website is indeed not available on a Sunday. www.sgp.nl/Zondag
