Surprised we don't have a thread for this. Results are fairly bad for the right: CSSD | 20.45% | -1.63% | 50 seats | -6 | ANO 2011 | 18.65% | from nowhere | 47 | +47 | Communist | 14.91% | +3.64% | 33 | +7 | TOP 09 | 11.99% | -4.71% | 26 | -15 | ODS | 7.72% | -12.50% | 16 | -37 | UPD | 6.88% | from nowhere | 14 | +14 | KDU-CSL | 6.78% | +2.39% | 14 | +14 |

Im not sure thats true, ANO 2011, UPD and KDU-CSL all seem fairly right of centre. As in Germany, it seems that there is (sadly) movement from the economic right-of-centre (FDP, ODS TOP 09) to the preachy populist Christian Democrat (CDU/CSU, KDU-CSL) types or the out-and-out angry at the establishment populists (UPD, ANO 2011).

Results are catastrophic for the mainstream right, as was. Emphasis very, very firmly on the word 'was'. But the ODS dug their own grave and should be mourned approximately as much as PASOK. What's hilarious (yet also perhaps depressing) about this outcome is that one reason for the great unpopularity of the political process in the Czech Republic is the lack of stable governments, and yet...

Lousy result for the CSSD isn't particularly surprising given the open civil war at the top of the party which turned their campaign into a trainwreck and which has become messier since the election finished. One of the key participants is not even a member of the party these days (none other than Miloš Zeman himself). The Communists (who those unfamiliar with Czech politics should note are entirely 'unreformed'), though, have just polled their second best result since they were removed from power.

Was meaning to ask - what explains the anaemic performance of the Social Democrats in the capital?

There's a non-negligible element of class voting in the Czech Republic and Prague is the richest part of the country. Other stuff as well, but that's the main thing.

Something worth noting regarding all cities is that the wards* are not exactly equal in population terms.
*My translation: thought it worked better than 'borough' as they're generally descended from historical cadastral divisions.

If you are going down the list of main cities with the mapping, could you please do Hradec Kralove. I used to work there. And though I can look up individual precincts an overview would be nice.
