Lancashire PCC Clive Grunshaw has been suspended by the Labour Party. Allegations relating to his expense claims as a member of the former Police Authority and Lancashire County Council are now being investigated by the Crown Prosecution Service. Mr Grunshaw denies any wrongdoing but this must bring the prospect of the first PCC by-election a bit closer. (What a dreadful prospect!)On a website frequented by election jinkies, I suspect your fellow Lancashire LD may rather better sum up opinion here Oooh I love the smell of a Lancashire-wide byelection in the morning......

Commissioner Grunshaw has had a bumpy ride since he was elected: blogs.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/dalestreetblues/2012/12/licence-to-thrill-from-bond-to.html"This naughty little card was sent out by Lancashire Police Commissioner Clive Grunshaw's press office on Friday. It might not have become news had journalists not then been sent an email two hours later stating: "Please accept my apologies for the Christmas card you received in error." Attached was the "correct" card (which you can see below). Unfortunately it was just the start of a bad weekend for Commissioner Grunshaw, who has set in motion the investigation into himself after a Sunday newspaper revealed he may have double claimed for meetings. He insists: 'At no point have I wilfully submitted claims which I know to be untrue.'" And then in January this year: blogs.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/dalestreetblues/2013/01/security-breach-on-lancashire.html"Just before 9.30pm on Friday the twitter account of Lancashire's Police Commissioner tweeted out the pic above. It was hastily removed (not before Dale Street Associates got a screen grab), and then put down to "Twitter spam" by @lancspcc, avoiding the excuse we often hear that "my account was hacked". The tweet was not the work of anyone with access to the account @lancspcc later tweeted, and "appropriate changes" have now been made. Amusing as it may be, it amounts to a small scale security breach and is embarrassing nonetheless. Not least for a Crime Commissioner who has had a bit of a rocky start..."
