Lab 41 (+4); Cons 34 (=); LD 10 (-3); UKIP 7 (-2); Oth 8 (+1) UKIP score there is far too low at the moment IMHO Maybe someone here could answer me as to why Populus downgrade UKIP so much TABLE 12 asks who you identify yourself with on the last two polls it has weighted down the figure from 219 and 171 to 20 How much would this effect the poll? Populus polls are very strange . An equally valid question is why do their panels contain 10 times as many UKIP supporters than they should do ?

You said it - who really thinks UKIP are at just 7% at present?? Methinks their methodology needs tweaking.....

According to their website, they "have done this by asking respondents which political party – if any – they generally identify with and comparing these answers to those on party identification given to the British Social Attitudes Survey in the year of the last General Election." www.populus.co.uk/Our-Methodology/Polling/Now, it seems very likely to me that there are more UKIP identifiers around now than there were in 2010, so this sounds like a recipe for underestimation of UKIP. I know my party ID has changed since 2010 (not in the direction of UKIP!); I can believe it changes more slowly than voting intention, but I don't think it's stable enough to use it the way they appear to be using it.

I was digging through the Populus archives looking for historical data over the last parliament, and there is a poll for the Times (listed on UKPR) for November 9th 2008 which isn't in the archive. I don't suppose anyone has a copy of the PDF of this poll they could let me have, or point me to a source for? Similarly, there's an Ipsos-MORI poll for Jan 18th 2009, and a ComRes one for the Independent for April 26th 2009, which don't seem to be on the respective company sites. I've tried substituting dates in the filename formats for other polls from their archives without luck. Cheers
