The voter who has just resigned became the voter by removing the previous voter (his father) from the register while he was on holiday and putting himself on it instead!

A real problem is that many on the left (and on the right too) talk about the majority of mainstream islam if the wackiness is confined to the extremes like Choudry.
I give an example of this not being true:
"A 2010 survey by the Pew Research Centre, an American think-tank, found that 84% of Muslims in Egypt and 86% in Jordan backed the death penalty for apostates (i.e. ex muslim athesists)"
The truth is the islamic nations, at least those in north africa and the middle east have a truly barbaric medieval society. The people are nice and reasonable in person im sure, but they hold certain things to be true that most of us consider very alien and frankly, wrong. We should not award such a society an international event such as this.
We need to have a discussion about how to interact with people who hold values that the vast majority of us in the west find deplorable, left, right, or centre.

It is interesting to note that under the new Emir Qatar is rapidly withdrawing from the regional and world stage, partly it would seem by choice and partly dictated by events.

The interesting news at the weekend was that the CIA has said the claims of the Emir of Qatar having said dodgy things were the result of organised hacking from the United Arab Emirates.
