To avoid the Hazel Grove thread being completely overtaken by the likes of me, here's a thread for people to play around with creating seats using the always splendid Boundary Assistant website. Not sure there are any rules, but I think the basic idea seems to be "silly/unworkable but within reason" We'll play it by ear.... "Greater Manchester Outermost" "Fleetwood and the Golden Mile" "Valleys of Irwell and Hynd" [....I think] tricky lancastrian"Ribble Estuary", anyone? ( tricky) (This seat would need to be amended to include Tarleton) And the only way to stay "within quota" for a "Morecambe Bay" type seat is this attempt.......I'm sure someone could do better

When was the last time a seat in the Westminster Parliament had two (or more, I suppose) disconnected parts? Combined Universities?

The Falkirk burghs seat - which IIRC lasted until the 1979 GE?? On some measurements the old Morecambe/Lonsdale counts there too....

A quick look at some recent election results suggests I'm creating many a bellwether and/or marginal.

When was the last time a seat in the Westminster Parliament had two (or more, I suppose) disconnected parts? Combined Universities? The 1974-83 boundaries (Second Periodical Review) contained constituencies with detached parts. I count seven: In England: Don Valley Yarmouth In Wales: East Flintshire Monmouth In Scotland: Clackmannan and East Stirlingshire East Dunbartonshire Stirling, Falkirk and Grangemouth

Spoilsport Though neither of those seats have their "disconnected" parts interspersed with other constituencies. Not even in the case of sweet Rockall.

A good idea though would be interested to know why've you put Croxley Green and Oxhey Hall specifically, in with Watford Town?
On a partisan view I would look to put South Oxhey in Watford town. But there's probably more community of interest in between Watford town and Bushey, or to link along the commuter lines and include Oxhey Hall and Carpenders Park.

IT was in order to create a complete doughnut seat, otherwise yes South Oxhey would make more sense with Watford Town. I think the point of this thrad is that there should be a slight element of siliness. I wonder what you'll make of my next effort
