France elected 72 MEP's in 2009 as follows: UMP | 27.9% | +11.2 | 29 seats | +12 | EPP | PS | 16.5% | -12.4 | 14 | -17 | PES
| Europe Ecologie | 16.3% | +8.9 | 14 | +8 | EGP
| MoDem | 8.5% | -4.1 | 6 | -5 | ALDE | Front de Gauche | 6.5% | +0.6 | 5 | +2 | EUL | FN | 6.3% | -3.5 | 3 | -4 | Euronat
| NOuveau Parti Anticapitalist | 4.9% | | 0 | | EUL
| Libertas | 4.8% | -3.6 | 1 | -2 | EFD |
An absolutely terrible result for the Socialists and a surprisingly good one for the Greens. Under the Lisbon TReaty, France gained an extra two MEPs who were chosen by the National Assembly and went to UMP and the Greens. I would imagine that next year the only way would be up for the Socialists and that FN will almost certainly pick up seats, Les Verts will probably fall back to some extent.
