Me too.
But look at it the other way.
Of 2010 Tory voters still in the electorate, 22% voted for other parties in 2019 (or did not vote at all).
For Labour the equivalent figure is 43%.

The swing of 25.2% from Conservative to Lib Dem in Chesham & Amersham is the biggest swing in a parliamentary by-election in a constituency not beginning with B since Dudley West (29.1%) in 1994.

Not that high a figure for Dukakis given that Bush Snr won 40 states.

Not that high a figure for Dukakis given that Bush Snr won 40 states. Dukakis was close to making it a lot narrower in the Electoral College - he lost three big states (Illinois, Pennsylvania, and California) by margins up to 3.5%, with all of them looking competitive.

More good stuff from Paula Surridge:-
Given previous comments the 'DNVs' lean economically left but culturally right. Those that did vote five years ago voted Leave.

Unclear where these figures are sourced but the order is correct given previous surveys:-

Stronger support for Labour amongst the over 85s (born 1934 or earlier). Something to do with the 1945-51 Labour governments?

For three years I held the record for the lowest number of votes gained by any Conservative, Labour or Liberal (Democrat) candidate going back to the formation of the current Newcastle City council in 1973. I still the hold the record for being involved in the election (bar by-elections) with the lowest turnout in that same period.
