[Shropshire will implement electoral boundary changes in 2025 and l6 parishes have undergone changes to their electoral arrangements, in order to align parish wards with the new county electoral divisions – Adderley, Albrighton, Atcham, Bicton. Bridgnorth, Donington with Boscobel, Great Hanwood, Ludford, Ludlow, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Pimhill, Shifnal, Shrewsbury, Uffington and Whitchurch Urban. In each case the total parish council size remains unchanged].

After allowing for parish wards and individual parishes in grouped councils, there were 276 separate contests with 1,420 seats available, attracting 1,252 candidates.
The candidate breakdown was 31 Lab, 44 Con, 21 Lib Dem, 32 Green Party, 1 UKIP, 1 Freedom Alliance, 1 Official Monster Raving Loony Party, 16 Community Groups, 87 Independents, 29 Non-Political Descriptions and 989 No Description.
Of the 276 electoral contests, 48 were contested, 90 attracted an exact number of candidates, 122 ended up with a shortfall of candidates and 16 failed to attract any candidates at all.
In terms of the 1,420 seats, 164 (11.5%) were filled by contested elections, 972 (68.5%) were elected uncontested and 284 (20.0%) were not filled. Within the 164 contested seats, the degree of contestation was 86 (6.1%). [If 10 candidates are nominated for 8 seats, all 8 seats are filled by contested elections, but the degree of contestation is 2].
After allowing for 284 seats unfilled, the remaining 1,136 seats were filled as follows –
