I reckon about 5 million English people live west of the western most point of the ‘West of England’ authority.

I understand not. Also, will stay as FPTP. Also, 3 senior staff were sacked last week, an email at 5.30pm on a friday, so not a happy ship at all .....

North Somerset won't be joining in time for the 2025 election. Furthermore, they're in deep financial trouble so I imagine WECA is the last thing on their mind at the moment.

It'll be interesting how both Labour and Green do in this. The former unpopular nationally, and the latter unpopular locally (unrest about the liveable neighbourhoods and the rubbish collection being called once a month as a proposal).

Is this what's being proposed?

2021 mayoral election: Lab 33.4%, Con 28.6%, Grn 21.7%, LD 16.3%
2024 general election (approx): Lab 33.8%, Grn 20.1%, Con 18.2%, LD 16.2%, Rfm 9.9%
Labour probably wins on a low vote share

Could be quite an exiting three way race.

There's a chance of Lab, LDem, Cons, RefUK, Green plus a serious indie (CUBA does have previous when it comes to voting indie for these high profile jobs) 25% may well end up as a comfortable win.

Helen Godwin wins the Labour selection. which is a surprise Though she only narrowly failed to get the nomination last time, so who was supposedly favoured now?
