John Ungar in Eastbourne - now there is a name from the past. He was a narrowly defeated (by the Tories) Liberal candidate for Regency ward in the 1983 Brighton council elections, just before the major surge to Labour which took place a year afterwards, culminating in Labour winning the ward in an early 1985 by-election. I don't think he's alone amongst the leading Brighton Liberals of the day in subsequently moving to Eastbourne.
