Very striking that not a single one is now an MP! In some ways it still feels fairly recent - or at least but a few years ago. Not that surprising. The youngest of them (Andrew MacKay) is 75, the oldest (Sir Patrick Duffy) is 104. And there are many occasions when there has not been an MP serving who was first elected 45 years before.

A lot of names listed there who I'm amazed are still alive and seemed old back in the 1980s and 1990s. Brotherton, Bulmer, Hannam, Knox, Oppenheim, Silvester, Trotter, Cartwright, Deakins, Huckfield, Madden, Morton, Pardoe, Summerskill and Weetch in particular all feel like figures from another age completely.

All familiar to me. I interviewed two in constituency selections, met four more, had dinner with two and drinks with two and heard another in a white jacket play the piano rather well.

One of Ken Weetch's 'recreations' in his Who's Who profile is "eating junk food". Maybe a bit dispiriting for those hoping that Trump will peg it any time soon.

Out of the 107, I think I have met and/or seen in real life, 7 of them. Some only at a distance, but some I have met properly and spoken to. I include Vivian Bendall in the list of people I have “met” but only because (in the 1970s) he lived in the same road as us, so I probably encountered him when I was little. I have no memory of meeting him, and it was decades before I even discovered the fact that he had lived in our road.

Now a few months away from becoming the oldest ever MP (whose birth date can be officially verified anyway)
