Former football coach Robby Wells is on the ballot for two different offices this year. He is an independent candidate for U.S. House in Virginia, and he is also the presidential nominee of the Party Party, which successfully petitioned this year in Rhode Island, using the independent procedure which allows a partisan label of the candidate’s choice.

RI-02 was competitive last time, but not so much now. I just noticed that Jack Reed (the Ocean State's Senior Senator) will be 79 in 2026 and may retire, setting up a fascinating primary in 2026 because the state's governor is new-ish, and so is the 1st District Congressman, Gabriel Amo. Reed has been a Senator since 1996.

They almost won Connecticut’s 5th too. It won’t happen this year either. All of ME-02, NH-02, CT-05, RI-02 will stay Democrat.

Maine and New Hampshire still have strong conservative bases compared to the other New England states but it’s still tough without ideal candidates and/or conditions

Connecticut almost elected a Republican governor. That was in 2018, not 2022. Maine will be tough without Collins. Ab RI poll had Trump on 40%. Bush 41 broke 40% in 1988. There is some Republican potential there. It’s very working class and catholic.
