DDHQ gives Republicans great chances here. More so than in Florida (!):

Jon Tester actually did pretty well. He gave off elder statesman vibes. Still, polarisation probably dooms him here. I hope I'm wrong about that.

If Tester gets Susan Collins split-ticketing. That's how he wins re-election in Montana. Biden won Maine by 9%. Susan Collins also won by 9%. So if we get Trump +16/17. Then we could see Tester winning. Still, that's a really big ask. And you wonder why not elsewhere? Why can't Texas split ticket etc? Ohio will probably be alone there. Still, Tester has made some overtures. It's quite a small state, honestly. So being Mr Montana helps Tester. He was also a farmer helpfully. Very few of those in Congress. Sheehy is favoured but it's narrowing. Still, you'd rather be Sheehy here.

The Montana Green Party did not poll enough votes to remain on the ballot. The law requires a vote of 5% of the winning candidate for Governor, but any office counts. However, the Green Party only ran for President and U.S. Senator, but not for any of the statewide state offices. Also, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. had the ballot label “We the People” but he didn’t get enough votes.
The Libertarian Party retained its qualified status with its nominee for Clerk of the Supreme Court. The party needed to poll 16,319 votes for one of the statewide offices, and Roger Roots polled 21,594 for Clerk.

With fair maps, big changes here. Democrats gained 9 seats in Montana. They will hold 41 House seats. Up from 32 before the election.

Republicans first win in this seat since Conrad Burns was re-elected to a third term in the year 2000. Big Sky Country narrowly voted for Tim Sheehy. There was significant ticket splitting here. For example, Deer Lodge County was a very narrow Harris win while Tester won it 61-37.
