Ok, so there are quite a few flaws in this guy's proposed model, but at least it shows some ingenuity of thinking I thought this forum would be just the sort of place he would want his theory discussed..

I would be interested to know what the highest share of the vote not to be elected would be - seems a bit harsh on e.g. Jeremy Corbyn and Thangam Debbonaire

I had had the same idea as this person on twitter a few years ago, but quickly dismissed it as nonsensical. However, out of curiosity...
For the 2024 election, this system would result in...
SDP 1 (Doncaster North); TUV 1 (North Antrim); SDLP 2 (South Belfast, Foyle); Scottish Green 2 (Glasgow South, Glasgow North); UUP 2 (Fermanagh and South Tyrone, South Antrim); Alliance 3 (Belfast East, Lagan Valley, North Down); DUP 4 (Upper Bann, Strangford, Belfast North, East Antrim); Plaid 4 (Caerfyrddin, Ceredigion Preseli, Dwyfor Meirionydd, Ynys Mon) Workers 5 (Birmingham Yardley, Rochdale, Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North, Blackburn, Derby South) Sinn Fein 5 (Mid Ulster, Belfast West, West Tyrone, Newry and Armagh, South Down)
And now for 13 independents, but Alex Easton's seat is already taken and East Londonderry isn't taken by anyone. Oh dear
SNP 16, Green (England and Wales) 41, Lib Dem 79, Reform 93, Conservative 153, Labour 218. I'm not going to even try to apportion these.

Any electoral system that would have Chris Williamson (MP) back in Parliament is quite clearly not fit for purpose.

It's a very silly idea as presented and I don't think I need to explain why. It is my understanding that Zurich uses a similar, but slightly less silly (I'm still not a fan) system: essentially, there are candidates elected via PR based on constituency and canton-wide vote shares, but members elected on the canton-wide basis are allocated to co-represent constituencies on a basis similar to the one mentioned.

Northern Ireland needs to be treated separately acc'd to the proposal, and he's not proposing to sum different independents anywhere (and is suggesting a fptp exemption for indies but isn't sure it's needed). Not treating NI separately, there's still an East Derry candidate left btw, the Conservative - of course they're not getting the seat either, but they would if they'd placed first nationally.
