on what basis have you decided those particular dates, and was there the remotest likelihood of a general election on any of them? As a matter of fact, the first one you chose was my dad's 80th birthday, so thanks for reminding me of what was a very happy day.

Glad to raise a smile, I only came up with those dates as it was the height of those two government’s unpopularity, something I’ve been thinking about for ages.

Please take a look at the September 1993 election, a far more plausible scenario

Labour could have pulled off a victory if an election had been held at virtually the precise moment that the 2008 financial crisis broke out. Now is not the time for a novice and all of that.
