Incumbent Kevin Brennan is standing down.
Maybe others had some inkling over it, but I think it has come as a surprise to most.
It's a pretty plum seat to come up last minute. My thoughts are Labour will be very close to the 60.3% of the vote received in 1997 - perhaps beating this as the minor boundary changes are quite positive for us..

When Mark Drakeford (Welsh Labour MS for Cardiff West) refuses to share his office with UK Labour parachuted-in candidate... You can assume that local activists have been less than helpful. I think McEvoy has burnt himself out. Expect Plaid local girl Keira to make a good showing.

Interesting. How different Welsh Political life (and life in Wales in general) would’ve been had c.500 labour voters voted McEvoy in 2016!

With McEvoy's star in a fast descent.

Just noticed that the Lib Dem candidate was one of the councillors here in Bath, who, AFAIK, has no connection with the city at all. So quite pleased to see a lost deposit here.

McEvoy has indeed burnt himself out. He’ll be lucky to save his deposit. McEvoy received 1,041 votes (2.3%). Two years ago he received 1,478 in his council election.
