A while back I got a leaflet from the Plaid Cymru candidate and the other day I heard that the Labour candidate has been doing the rounds near where I live.
The candidates that I know of standing here are:
Robin Millar - Conservative (incumbent) Claire Hughes - Labour Catrin Wager - Plaid Cymru

Any relation to Roger Roberts? His children are Gareth, Rhian and Sian. Gareth was the Lib Dem candidate in Conwy in 2005.

Not that I made a beeline for her social media or anything, but there's a picture on there of her posing with Roger and referring to 'passing the torch' but she doesn't directly call him Taid or the like so I'm presuming there's no (close) relation.

Two more candidates identified:
Petra Haig - Green (was also candidate for the party at the 2015 General and 2016 Welsh Assembly elections)
Thomas John Clark - Reform

Any relation to Roger Roberts? Given that I know both of them, I can confirm that she is not related to him.

Hmm- I don't know why people are underrating Plaid here... They previously held former Aberconwy in Senedd, there are plenty of Plaid voters in Bangor - as well as the inland areas of Conwy (previously in Clwyd West). I think Plaid will come second here this time - and reasonably close.

But I can see Plaid have a decent third spot vote so I’ll re-add the poll with them as an option

I have no inside info, but I imagine Plaid will be in third just behind the Tories and a long way behind Labour. There's just not enough Costa Geriatrica for Reform to do really well.

Having the incumbency bonus might have given them a better chance.

Plaid usually do better in Senedd elections (see certain South Wales seats for example) and they also had a strong candidate who - I suspect - picked up a personal vote.

Williams was a very low profile MP, even locally, so I doubt there would have been any incumbency bonus for him. He was going to retire even if an election had been called prior to the boundary changes going through.
