If Ross had stood here instead of arsing around saying he was going to retire he might actually have won. Moray surely went Tory notionally on the old boundaries? I'm not sure if it would have ever been credible for the Scottish Tory leader to stand again for Westminster, the reality of devolution means the focus for them has to be at Holyrood
But yes compared to how things worked out he'd have been as well standing for this seat and seeing how it played out, now he's stuck as a Holyrood backbencher and it's obvious he prefers Westminster

I think Tim Eagle MSP might have won this. It seems to me the Tories could've run far more MSPs in this election, and if they'd done that, plus running the incumbent MP David Duguid, then the Tories would've probably won this seat and Aberdeenshire North & Moray East. Two very disappointing result (losing here by 1,000 votes). These results were frustrating because the majority was only around 900 in Aberdeenshire North & Moray East. Poor form from the Tories in both seats. FFS.

In contrast, had the Conservatives stood just about anyone else in Aberdeenshire North & Moray East they would have more than likely held on to that seat with a comfortable majority.

No. The Conservative candidate seemed OK. In Aberdeenshire North & Moray East? Any regional MSP based in Aberdeenshire would have won it (other than Douglas Ross), or more preferably David Duguid.

Dougie will rightly be held in contempt by the party for the rest of his life.

Dougie will rightly be held in contempt by the party for the rest of his life. He's a complete disgrace. As are all of those in the party who enabled his traitorous behaviour. Well done to the voters of Aberdeenshire North and Moray East for roundly rejecting him.

If his health recovers as apparently it is expected to, surely quite a strong chance.

Dougie will rightly be held in contempt by the party for the rest of his life. He has been pretty awful. He's acted like leading the party has been an inconvenience to him. And the party repeated the same mistakes here in the NE in the 2024 GE as they did in the 2021 SP election. The SNP pipping them to the post in numerous seats.
