Hannah Bardell, incumbent since 2015, defends a 12,242 (25%) vote notional majority here for the SNP, hefty even by central belt standards. Bardell can be described as being in the SNP mainstream.
The boundary changes bring Labour back into 2nd place here, and they are standing Gregor Poynton, a former party worker who is a digital campaigning and communications consultant. He certainly has a chance here. The conservatives are notionally a close 3rd, but haven't publicised a candidate yet.

A bit like Kilmarnock & Loudoun, a Labour win here relies on a coalition of voters from ex-mining towns and villages outside of Livingston and suburbanites living in peripheral areas of the town, to counter a stronger SNP vote in ex-council estates in central, northern and eastern Livingston.
Current polling would make this seat a tossup between Labour and the SNP.
