Peter Grant, the incumbent SNP MP for Glenrothes since 2015, is retiring at the general election. Accordingly, the task of defending his 9,352 (22%) vote notional majority falls to John Beare, a local councillor for Glenrothes North.
Labour are the challengers here, and must fancy their chances, but their selection process seems to have become mired in row after Altany Craik, a local councillor, was forced to stand down over authorship of books deemed too "sexy and satanic". His competitor, Lynn Davies, a college lecturer then withdrew, apparently in solidarity, and there has been no public update for the past couple of months.

When he was MSP, he represented North East Scotland but his wife is Claire Baker, who is a regional MSP here and also stood in Glenrothes some Holyrood elections ago.

One SNP and one Labour leaflet so far, both talking about devolved matters In Dundee, in an evenly split Labour/SNP ward, I have received nothing so far. You'd think, if Dundee were in play, there'd be some sort of leaflet game.
