Patrick Grady, the SNP incumbent here since 2015, has effectively been deselected by his party over sexual harassment allegations. Alison Thewliss, who's current Glasgow Central seat is being abolished in the boundary review will contest for the SNP instead, only 23% of her current constituency will be in this redrawn one.

Thewliss will start with a 5,582 (13%) vote notional majority over Labour. That's relatively small for Thewliss, who unsuccessfully stood for her party's Westminster leadership as the allegedly more pro-Sturgeon candidate in 2022 and is now the SNP's home affairs spokesperson, but she may be buoyed by the Hillhead council by-election showing a smaller swing locally than national polls suggest.

Labour's candidate, Martin Rhodes, who was previously a councillor for Partick East and Kelvindale, will surely start as the favourite, however.
