Tommy Shepphard, SNP incumbent since 2015, defends a 11,796 (22%) vote notional majority here. Sheppard is on the economic left of his party and current serves as their scotland office spokesperson.
Labour are the only real challengers here, their hopeful is Chris Murray, he has worked across the public sector, currently at COSLA and previously worked in Harriet Harman's office either side of the 2010 general election.

Candidates: Charles Dundas (Lib Dem) - previously stood for Westminster in Livingston (4 times - 2010-19) and for Holyrood in Almond Valley (2016) and Midlothian NOrth & Musselburgh (2021). Jane Gould (Independent) - can't find anything Amanda Grimm (Green) - researcher at Scottish Parliament Marie-Clair Munro (Conservative) - siting cllr for Morningside ward (in Edinburgh South) Chris Murray (Labour) - works to combat human trafficking according to his profile Tommy Shepherd (SNP) - sitting MP Derek Winton (Reform) - a management consultant - stood on the Reform list for the Lothians in 2021. This will be Shepherd vs Murray. Labour clearly hitting on the strategy that Labour candidates called Murray get elected in Edinburgh . I'd probably back Labour to take it by about 5-10% at the moment. After that the Conservatives and Lib Dems will battle for 3rd, both perhaps under 10% and I think the Greens will save their deposit here.

Let us remember that Tommy Sheppard is the owner of The Stand Comedy Clubs, his two Scottish clubs being two of only three venues to receive the maximum £250k government grant during the Covid-19 splurge, the other being the venue that hosted Nicola Sturgeon's wedding.
You have to laugh.

I think Labour will win here also. The King of Comedy is dead it seems.
