The major political parties have a deposit-loss insurance scheme. A CLP in the Labour Party does not have to foot the bill for a lost parliamentary deposit. I imagine that there are similar arrangements for the Conservatives & Liberal Democrats. The Tories' premiums may well rise sharply after this election, it is not normal for them to lose more than one or two deposits in a general election, often it's none at all.
