Here he is, Sweeney, putting his mouth round a traffic cone to treat it like a loudhailer. Not only does it look ridiculous, but it's a bit unhygienic if you ask me. Would it be fair to say he is something of a high risk candidate? Delicately phrased.

He has several I would imagine. He seems to be enjoying himself. Not sure what state his liver will be in when the campaign is over.

We're playing a team called Rotten Livers on Sunday, we play them every year. So called because the founders of the team were very keen & excessive drinkers. Last year they were very cross with us, because our umpire Mike signalled a no ball when there were 3 fielders behind square on the leg side when the ball was bowled. The ball bowled one of our batsmen and we narrowly won.

Nope. This seat went so overwhelmingly for the Tories in the Mayoral (over two thirds) it would be a complete 360 turnaround for it to go Labour now. We’ve talked about areas of soft and hard Tory support. Well you don’t get much harder than Sutton Coldfield, voters here are well off, not the swingy ‘C2s’, and this has been compounded by the dislike of Labour in areas like this over the city council issues. I would expect some leakage to Lib Dem and Reform but a much lower swing to Labour than the national average. Don’t let UNS run you a fools errand in this seat.

The Conservative vote will be a lot stickier in seats like Sutton Coldfield, Solihull and Aldridge Brownhills than in some more rural areas.

A rare celebrity endorsement for the Conservative candidate from an unexpected source

That is the type of endorsement that would make me less likely to vote for a candidate.

Would not disagree with this although I suspect the Mayoral was influenced by Andy Street being the "right sort of Tory" as is Mitchell to an extent, others might not fare so well. Also its worth remembering that the Labour vote is slightly inflated from the norm here because Rob Pocock clearly has a fairly large fanclub. In general, however, I would expect Sutton to the last seat fully in the old West Midlands county to fall from the Tories clutches.
