So looking forward to seeing Kawczynski go down here. Julia Buckley will be a really good MP.

Lab Gain. Matthew Green is of the opinion Kawczynski will be 3rd here.

This has been trending Labour and the boundary changes and associated demographics are not good for the Tories. Lots of building going on around the ring road between the Bridgnorth Road and the A49. And towards Battlefield. Given he’s got little chance under the circumstances, I do give Kawcynski a smidge of credit for fighting it and not standing down. Julia Buckley has built up a good personal vote in Bridgnorth, which over the last few years says something. She performed well as the PPC for Ludlow in 2017 and this is her second bite at Shrewsbury. As stated above I think she’ll make a great MP. The Lib Dem could be a future star, was elected to Shropshire Council I think as a teenager. Won a very Tory ward on the back of disquiet about the northern ring road. Don’t know anything about the Reform candidate.

I had an exchange with her on Twitter a year or two ago when I caught her out blatantly lying. I gave her the opportunity to correct herself but she just brazenly kept on repeating the same lie which was easily disprovable. Shrewsbury has been very unlucky with its MPs since 1997 at least and I fear it's not going to improve.

What in particular disappoints you about Kawczynski? To me, he is pretty barking, but it may well be something completely different that has caused you to find him so disappointing.

Before him was the standard-issue, long-serving Tory Sir John Langford-Holt, first elected in 1945.

An appropriate and obvious question that I regret I am unable to give a satisfactory answer to for many reasons, some personal, some legal and some that would be ill-received here. And yes he is pretty barking. You are correct.

There are certainly some rather rum rumours about him, including locally. I think I can guess at one of the things Carlton is referring to, but nothing more can be said here, I think.

Sir John was as you say a typical Tory kight of the shires who served right through from 1945-83. Looking pretty good when you compare him with his successors.

I worked on his first campaign and in a life of continual political disappointment, he is possibly the most disappointing mistake of all? My dyed-in-the-wool Tory father often says that if he lived a mile or so further south and had the prospect of having Kawczynski as his MP, he would have been forced to vote for another party for the first time in his life.
