Where the hell is Hanham? Surely one of the more obscure constituency nomenclatures? Lesmahagow is smaller, and also widely mispronounced.

If it were up to the forum I suspect it would've been given a name like 'Keynsham' (which is certainly nicer)

They could have revived the old Wansdyke name but that was stupid too and AFAIK only referred to the Somerset side (albeit the constituency so names, as opposed to the district) always included part of Kingswood/South Glos). Of course if it were up to me, the seat wouldn't cross the boundary between Somerset and Gloucestershire in the first place

Where the hell is Hanham? Surely one of the more obscure constituency nomenclatures? Hanham is a Bristol suburb - part of the built up area of the city. The Boundary Commission normally recognises both parts of a constituency in the name when it crosses District boundaries, which seems sensible in general, although it does lead to some small and obscure places ending up in constituency names. And as we know the way the Boundary Commission works there is no consistency. Hanham, broadly defined, is the largest settlement in the South Gloucestershire part of the new seat. It isn't particularly small - there are many smaller settlements named - but it is fairly obscure I agree to anyone outside the Bristol city region. The largest settlement in the seat is Keynsham, which would provide a much snappier title, as well as being close to the centre.

That’s K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M. A major con from the start. Create a huge block perm and split it up between your followers and collect 10% on any winnings. The only real outlay was the Radio Luxembourg adverts.

Has it been noted anywhere that this seat bears a resemblance to some sort of small dog, perhaps a Jack Russell?

Has it been noted anywhere that this seat bears a resemblance to [ ...] Jack Russell? I can't see the likeness myself, but he is from nearby Stroud.

Also, if such internationalism is allowed, Washington's 8th Congressional District for the 2012-2020 elections.

The present-day Labour-voting retired cricketer’s real name is Robert Russell

If this was my constituency, even though the Conservatives deserve a kicking, I would still vote Rees Mogg , he makes me laugh, which is a mile away from Starmer . At 2/1 worth a punt RM holds on .

I’m sure some Labour people will quietly hope he clings on and becomes leader, thereby casting the Tories into further electoral oblivion and really making Starmer look like a man of the people!

Has he ever shown any serious interest in being leader? Fully accept that this may be different in opposition
