that would not normally regarded as counting as it had been a Conservative Speaker (Sir Harry Hylton-Foster) He was elected as an independent in the 1964 election. I know you’re correct but I just thought I’d point it out. He was elected as a Conservative for the Cities of London and Westminster in 1959 after doing a chicken run from York. He was subsequently appointed as speaker and relected in that capacity.
