There's never been a conviction for betting on inside knowledge and a plain reading of the law that's linked above doesn't show any cheating.  If they were influencing the date to make a bet that would be a different story, but there's no evidence of that.

Is that not because gambling is classed as an illegal contract and unenforceable at law?

If bookies suspect something dodgy they will refuse to pay out.
