There was a hustings in Milford last night and Swayne got absolutely slated. Did he bring the cardboard cutout?

Latest Survation MRP has Con 28.7% Lab 26.1% LD 18.7% Ref 15.2% Grn 8.7% Other 2.6%. That's down from an 8% majority in the previous one from June 15th. The thought that Labour could even come close in the New Forest really shows the level of political realignment we are seeing.

I tend towards Pete's verdict. Even now I really can't see Labour being anywhere near in this constituency. Labour probably has more potential in the East constituency but they have never been anywhere near there either up to now.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2024/uk/constituencies/E14001374Swayne comfortably holds in the end albeit with a hugely reduced majority and against split opposition. 35% being an overwhelming endorsement of the man with the cardboard cut out - not. Anecdote and observation reveals that Lymington (of all places) was where the Labour vote turned out, Pennington a close second although Jack Davies probably had a sizeable pond to fish from there as well. Although her vote share fell, a lot of people were impressed by the Green candidate- a name to keep an eye on in the future perhaps?
