A new seat and one to watch in my opinion. Paul Holmes (Con) moves from Eastleigh where he didn't fancy taking on Liz Jarvis to what should be the more comfortable surroundings of this increasingly urban slice of Hampshire. Prad Bain is standing for the LD's.
The Tory vote will be concentrated in the ex Fareham wards such as Locks Heath whilst the LD vote comes from the Eastleigh wards (Hedge End etc).
It should be a safe Conservative win. Should be...

Keith House's twitter feed seems to be increasingly bullish on this. Not sure if that is a bit of mind games though..

Going into this campaign all the talk from the Lib Dems was about a very focussed target strategy and having learnt the lessons.
Now admittedly the Tory campaign has been an almost unrelenting disaster, but seats like this being talked up really doesn't fit with that focussed campaign, so is it that the Tories are really heading for that bad a night or are the Lib Dems spreading themselves too thin again?

Next door to Eastleigh so a bit of mind games being played I think. And it is Keith House after all...π¬

I could of course be wrong, but I've got the impression that the Lib Dem target list may have expanded a little in the last few days. Hopefully they're not being overconfident about the ones higher up the list.

Yeah being nearby I don't get the impression that the Lib Dem campaign is anything more than a spirited local campaign aided by having a slightly better base in the Eastleigh District half of the seat. So still more than the average seat but not comparable to the usual Lib Dem targets in Hampshire.

If the Lib Dems already had some of their golden triangle seats (from the Ashdown/Kennedy era), then I could see them having a serious go at this one. Whilst Winchester should fall firmly in their column, there are too many unknowns in Eastleigh and SN&R, before adding Hamble Valley to the mix.

Indeed, and it seemed an odd assertion. But you can imagine they can't be both on the verge of winning it and also abandoning it!
