The BBC seem peculiarly interested in this seat, both back at the locals and now, I’ve heard it referenced several times and today a full profile on the news.

Not surprising when Labour gained control of Rushmoor council (which this seat covers the entirety of plus Yateley East ward in Hart) and when a historic Labour gain is on the cards despite the constituency's substantial military vote.

Not really a surprise as it has been Tory for 100 years or so and is now considered marginal. Swindon is also getting attention as it is deemed a bellwether. Also some of the ex-Labour red wall seats will be covered.

Of course they only went to Aldershot itself, which is not even the largest town in the constituency. So it isn't a full profile as such.

And Rachel Reeves was in Farnborough last week.

There are certainly signs of an election taking place in Aldershot, with a growing number of red placards outside houses.
To be fair, my observations (in this constituency) have been limited to the town of Aldershot (which traditionally has some signs of a Labour seat - ethnically diverse population and high deprivation in some wards). Farnborough - the larger town - will be key; again, the local elections point to some promising progress from Lab. It'll be a tough nut for Lab to crack still, especially with the addition of true blue Yateley; but I wouldn't write off a spectacular gain in this corner of Tory Hampshire.

If Ilkley can make their way on to the constituency name (Keighley and Ilkley), then Farnborough definitely should.

Does anyone know where the list of seats to watch is? It should be in your own head and constructed by you.

It should be in your own head and constructed by you. Sorry I’m too thick Well I am sorry too. We are both sorry. Are you on the right site for you? This room is 'Assertive Wrongheadedness'. You probably need 'Remedial Spoonfed' which is two doors down. Do you need help to get there?

stb12 I know you've been asked a lot, often unnecessarily so, but since Keir Starmer was here today saying this seat could be within a few hundred votes, could we take his advice and get a poll? (And possibly in Basingstoke as well - both straight Con Hold/Lab Gain) 😎

Basingstoke is a little easier than this one but would still be reasonable enough in terms of having a poll. (Although it would still be the first time Labour has won Basingstoke, if so - though Labour would have won the seat in at least 2001 if they had been able to contest it on the boundaries which came into force in 2010.)
