He'll be a fish out of water here. Does he know the scale of the task ahead? That he might be against the tide? Could be battered. I've run out of puns.

Defeat could lead to a lot of sole searching.

This isn’t the plaice for such dreadful puns. Not that I wish to carp.

Unlike in Oldham West (‘and the villages’) the Tory candidate here actually appears to be local. In Saddleworth would any swing away from the Tories go to the Lib Dems instead of Labour? While the independent surge at the LEs in the Oldham East part could go to the Workers Party, there could be a below average swing to Labour here but probably little chance of an upset given Galloway himself didn’t decide to move here and even if he did would be drowned out in a GE campaign.

I've Haddock enough of these puns. You are Saddle(worth)d with them until Election Day, and probably afterwards.

Tories did surprisingly well to hold Saddleworth South and Labour came second in North for the first time. Paul Errock came a distant second in West and Lees. Really is all to play for

Nick Buckley is going to be in for a shock.
He did really well here in the mayoral, presumably why he's standing in this seat now. But he's failed to realise that he was the unintended beneficiary of a strong "Vote for the independents" anti-Labour climate, as seen in the council results. (As opposed to in Bolton, where that same anti-Labour sentiment was picked up by a stronger Green campaign.)

He'll be a fish out of water here. He would do better in Scotland where he could team up with Alex Salmon and Nichola Sturgeon.
