Michael Crick reports that Labour has officially reopened the Hyndburn nomination, presumably meaning that the suspended ex-MP and PPC Graham Jones has definitely been dropped.

NEC has dropped all the charges against Graham and he is now the official Labour candidate.

Quick update. I talked toGraham yesterday and he has been acquitted of the charges against him but he is awaiting confirmation of his candidacy. Given that his was voted the top constituency office in 2018 I would be surprised if he was not selected.

Very respectable Conservative result here in the circumstances. Labour majority is only 1,687 and a swing of only 5.8%. Any idea why? Religious factors again?

Serious disunity in the local Labour Party is often a problem here, but at times the Tories have suffered similarly. That could be a contributory factor

The Green vote will have been predominantly Muslim, they seem to have become the Gaza protest vote in this seat. The new MP Sarah Smith also lacks the local credentials of Graham Jones or Sara Britcliffe, and the late decision to replace Jones didn't give her much time to work the seat.
