Cummings moaning about incompetent narcissistic people...🙄 So incompetent he beat your lot twice Well, since the Conservatives have elected more MPs than the Liberals/Liberal Democrats in every general election since Adam was a lad (1910 ?) that's hardly a suggestion of special abilities.

A pretty awful option by the looks of things.
If there’s a police investigation into fylde conservatives then putting up the Chair is a huge risk. Doesn’t look like he’s at all comfortable answering questions about it in Blackpool.
I imagine Labour would fancy their chances against him in Fylde. An outsider - and Ben Wallace would be a very credible option - surely the way to go in these circumstances.

Staying silent might not have been possible but this just feels panicked and sudden.

The 78-year old lady who had to take the phone call and all that, might even be a better shout and would get a lot of sympathy. And before you say too old, a perennial reminder of the two candidates for US president… and this is a constituency with a higher than average age, possibly one of the highest nationwide if not the north west.

Will Sebastian E Payne be polishing up his CV for an application I wonder?

I note that the current chair of the Conservative Party hails from Mid-Lancashire originally and is still in want of a seat. It's probably not his first choice, but if a better opportunity doesn't materialise then I doubt he'd turn it down.

I remember we had James Atkins (son of Robert) apply for Stretford & Urmston in 2010. He didn't get it but was impressive. He doesn't seem overly involved in politics now but maybe he would be interested given that he's from up the road?

and their father of course was a Tory MP too. Not to be confused with Ronald Atkins, Labour MP for nearby Preston North, who died a few years back aged 104.

No it isn’t, Andy Carter is not an MP since Thursday. Pedantry. It's just referencing who he is.
