Assuming when the Tories won Crewe Central in a recent by-election it was more down to 'local factors'?

Assuming when the Tories won Crewe Central in a recent by-election it was more down to 'local factors'? They got a massive swing in Crewe St Barnabas ward last year, despite the other Crewe wards having very ‘normal’ results, so I’d presume so.

Labour had a team out canvassing in Nantwich this afternoon.
We walked past the Conservative office; it wasn't a hive of activity ...
And the C&N Conservative website doesn't yet appear to have noticed they have a PPC.
The phrase "given up" springs to mind.

I see Brian Silvester has £500 to waste.
(And that one of his past supporters signed the Reform candidate's nomination papers.)

Currently observed stakeboard/poster count:
Labour - 10
er, that's it.

Poster/Stakeboard count now:
Labour 20+ Reform 2 Conservative 1
Freepost from Labour arrived before the postal votes.
Since then we have received the Reform freepost (A5 with candidate's name and constituency name as the only local content) and the Crewe First freepost (i.e. Brian Silvester's vanity project. I would describe the leaflet, but it pretty much defies description).
Nothing from the Conservatives (nor from the Lib Dems, Greens or WP - but they're not defending the seat).

Conservative stakeboards now up to two.
Though the second appears to be on highways land so could be a bit naughty.

Stakeboard/poster count now:
Labour 25+
Conservative 3
Reform 2
Interestingly, one Reform stakeboard has come down and been replaced by a Conservative one!
Freeposts from Greens and Workers Party arrived today; Reform, Crewe First & Labour already received (Labour was the only one to arrive before the PVs).
Still waiting for anything from the Conservatives. In a seat they are defending.

I have never come across defecting stakeboards before. Mind you I did once fly-post the notice board outside of Romiley Liberal Club with my poster the night before an election.
