Not an area I know well at all but I do wonder if this could be a tougher nut for Labour to crack than trendier enclaves like Tatton and Macclesfield.

Not sure Tatton is that trendy. Maybe the odd bit. Neither is Macclesfield for that matter. There are some very affluent areas nearby popular with Liverpool and Manchester-based footballers.

Maybe aspirational would be a better word. Macclesfield and Tatton are seats that do attract that crowd, Congleton is not.
Not just the obvious Alderley Edge and Knutsford etc, but the places that people having been moving out from Manchester to. Poynton, Wilmslow, Bollington and the like.
It's a different crowd who move to Holmes Chapel, Sandbach, and Alsager. Even if the former two are expanding. And certainly nobody ever described Congleton itself as trendy.
