An interesting choice for a rather rural seat.

I'm guessing she's of Greek or Greek Cypriot heritage.

An interesting choice for a rather rural seat. Not as rural, but still Cheshire - Mike Amesbury, who is very, very Manc, seems to have done well for himself though in Northwich, sorry, ‘Weaver Vale’ - now standing in Runcorn & Helsby I think. As for the rural issue, I’m not sure how much farming there still is in Cheshire, but I do know many will commute to Manchester (whether they like it or not). Also Cheshire broadly isn’t the sort of area I’d think that would have an issue with a candidate with a foreign-sounding name/origin.

Anecdotally of course, but there's no shortage of Mancs pushing out towards and past Northwich as houses are still surprisingly cheap.

Anecdotally of course, but there's no shortage of Mancs pushing out towards and past Northwich as houses are still surprisingly cheap. We are seeing exactly this with colleagues in our Manchester office - previously living in or looking in the likes of Altrincham, Hale etc. Eye-watering property prices there, combined with only needing to be in the office a couple of days a week means pushing out past Northwich (to Hartford and the like) becomes very attractive.

I will simply make the observation that Northwich and Hartford are very different to Audlem or Farndon or Bunbury.

I think if we're competitive in this constituency then it will mean that the inhabitants will be sufficiently sick of the Conservative Party that they are not going to be especially bothered where precisely the non-Conservative candidates hail from.

Think this one needs more attention than it's currently getting... The Duke of Westminster having a Labour MP...

It's a Con v Lab contest. A poll might be of interest. I think Labour are very slight bookies' favourites to win the seat (at present unless I am very much mistaken Labour is favoured to win all Cheshire seats by the bookies)

I think Labour are very slight bookies' favourites to win the seat (at present unless I am very much mistaken Labour is favoured to win all Cheshire seats by the bookies) I don’t know the proportions in terms of electorate but in normal times I get the impression this would be a 50:50 battle between the Chester South part being the Labour stronghold (certainly since 2017 given the poor Conservative performance in Chester in in 2019) and the other 50% being the uniformly conservative rural areas, but surely even the slightest swing away from the conservatives in the ‘Eddisbury’ part would help Labour to no end. I can imagine something similar in Reading West & Mid Berkshire or Meridian (if it still existed, no idea about the new one) which Labour almost won in 1997 - again that infamous Birmingham overspill estate paired with ultra-conservative rural Solihull.
