I don't think Labour regurgitating Anna Turkey helped their vote here. In an extremely volatile electorate in an extremely volatile election the result was fairly serene in Redcar.

Anna Turley was autocorrected to Anna Turkey and I didn't have the will to change it . Somehow it felt apt.

It wasn't volatile when Mo Mowlam was the MP. Very popular.

we often have to do vocal warm-ups before choir practice which involve singing tongue-twisters including red lorry, yellow lorry. The one I find the most impossible is going up & down a scale singing "unique, New York" repeatedly.

It wasn't volatile when Mo Mowlam was the MP. Very popular. What a downgrade her successor was though! Delivered the seat to the Lib Dems. Pity they're absolutely nowhere in this seat now. Difficult to see them getting a foothold anywhere in the North East again.

Difficult to see them getting a foothold anywhere in the North East again. There's still a local government base in Redcar and Cleveland to build from (and also in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and parts of Co Durham). So not totally hopeless, but sustained hard work will be required.
