What?! Talk about authoritarian. Or leading by example; well done to them both. It should be a decision for the individual not government or parties aiming for government.

Liberals and NDP will require all candidates to be vaccinated; Tories and Greens will not Vaccinated against what? Rabid politicians? Common sense probably. Most members of legislative bodies seem to be given that particular innoculation upon election. The odd rational member must represent either the refusal rate or that the vaccine is not 100% effective.

Or leading by example; well done to them both. It should be a decision for the individual not government or parties aiming for government. No actually it shouldn’t, you could technically argue it’s a conscience issue, but having worked for Flello and seen his conscience change with his sex life, I’ve no sympathy there either. By doing this the Liberals and NDP are avoiding the “one rule for them, one rule for us” argument and, as I said, leading by example. Personally I’ve no time for you Covididiots and would make vaccination mandatory unless you’d got a genuine medical reason not to be; knowing that Covid will be fatal for me, I’d rather remove the fear and isolation of the last 18+ months, and not have to listen to the experiences of my closest relative (after my mother) whose spent 13 months working on a Covid ITU ward, rather than humour knuckle dragging pillocks who bleat “civil liberties”.

Genuine Question Mandatory vaccinations just for covid, or all diseases?

Infectious diseases rather than all diseases; if it’s something that just affects you, like the vaccination against cervical cancer most teenage girls have without a fuss, then you can be a moron and refuse and run the risk if dying young, but if you’re civil liberties don’t give you the right to put my life at risk. You’re quite willing to have a load of mandatory vaccinations to go on your exotic holiday abroad, so you can have just the same to enable people to live safely at home.

So then, what are his chances?
I think with the growing split within the Conservatives, Trudeau could scrape a majority and go the next four years with more confidence in his swagger, something that he hasn't been doing much in the last two years. Thus, less of the woke rubbish which may come back now if he gets over 170.

Well, I already knew you were an authoritarian and couldn't care less about civil liberties, so none of that comes as any surprise. Compulsory medication is in my view, not acceptable. How would you administer it - physically restrain people? I didn't realise the Labour right had such an affinity with China! And the vaccine doesn't prevent transmission of the Delta variant anyway or stop people being infected. It does reduce the chances of hospitalisation and serious illness, but there is a limited amount which can be done for people who are vulnerable other than enable voluntary isolation. So the hope you have is entirely false.

No, they are choices related specifically to travel. They are not medications we are enforcing anyone to have. There are actually very few which are mandatory, anyway, but it's a red herring.

A) this is fuck all to do with politics, if it was a fascist such as yourself would be supporting it; B) having lost literally hundreds of people to various disabilities, and now two and a half years over my own personal life expectancy, I have zero tolerance of people who could reduce deaths but refuse to because of an ever changing thing called civil liberties; C) I don’t need you to lecture me on the efficacy of the vaccine, but 90% protection are bloody better odds than zero chance of survival. So the hope isn’t entirely false, and the suggestion that it is yet another lie spread by Covididiots like yourself.

I realise Covid issues provoke strong feelings - even on the Canadian politics thread - but can we keep things civil please, with a degree of mutual respect.

And is also pretty much the embodiement of fascism. If civil liberties are not important to you, that's sad, but don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Thus, less of the woke rubbish which may come back now if he gets over 170. The impression I get is that most Canadians don't think much of Trudeau, but like the Conservatives even less. One poll showed that a plurality of NDP voters actually thought they would win; while that's unlikely this might be the best opportunity they get for a long time (although they probably won't capitalise on it)

The vaccine provides protection against severe illness and makes hospitalisations less likely. It does not prevent infection, nor does it prevent the spread of infection - this particularly applies to the Delta variant which is more virulent and infectious but less severe in its impact.
Most people will have the vaccine because they perceive it to be of personal benefit. I don't think physical restraint to force people to have it is going to happen.
I'm not sure of the position in Canada with regard to compulsion but no party looking towards that as acceptable should be voted for.
